We that post political, social and religious posts on social media have a responsibility to society (in my opinion) to be truthful and credible. I want to denounce publicly the far right-winged extremist posts that I have seen over the past 18 months. Maybe you are fortunate enough to not have FB friends that promote such stuff or maybe you have not dug deep enough into the web and have not seen the crazy, conspiracy driven, fear-mongering stuff that has been posted such as:
1) Obama is going to declare Marshall law and no election will be held
2) Obama is going to confiscate all of our guns
3) Obama and the UN have a secret agreement to round up all of our guns
4) Walmart is involved in a government conspiracy and the handful of stores that were closed in 2015 were going to be used for detention centers when Obama declared Marshall law.
5) The Chinese are amassing on our southern boarder for an invasion. (No kidding – it was out there)
If you have not seen this stuff, you think it is silly, but this is just a sampling of what circulates broadly in some circles and occasionally makes its way into the mainstream.
When I was having a serious discussion with a left-leaning person, they often referred to these nonsensical things they had read throwing my arguments into the same bucket. I began to see how the truth was getting lost among the gross lies.

Update 11/12/2016 – The latest conspiracy theory is Obama is behind the street protests and plans to call out the National Guard and declare a state of emergency – then refuse to leave office. I detest such nonsense.

Glenn,
I don’t share my opinions on FB unless its an entry for a raffle or giveaway :). But I love politics, so I look forward to following your WordPress blog and not just because you’re related to me…
To your topic, it’s not just because of the extreme right wing scare tactics, but the twisting of the common sense republican stances that have led to the almost ridiculous response to a republican president elect. [sarcasm] I mean, I’m sure Obama would love to confiscate all guns, but he’s likely polled it and its more politically advantageous to demonize gun owners rather than the hard work of bipartisan legislation. [/sarcasm]
What is more prevalent even in the moderate liberal response is something like:
“Luis Concha, a second-generation immigrant, says a Donald Trump presidency is hard to swallow because of the anti-immigration stance he built his campaign around, including building a border wall and banning Muslims from coming into America. Leading up to the election, Concha didn’t support him, but considers that Trump could do good for the economy and he’ll “give him a shot.””
This is the more reprehensible aspect of the democratic tactics. They don’t argue an opposing position to the existing laws that Trump is campaigned on upholding, they change the meaning and demonize on a false pretense, citing racism when the reality is that it isn’t based on race, illegal aliens are all races… its based on the current law.
• Trump doesn’t have and anti-immigration stance. He has an anti ILLEGAL immigration stance. A valid question is… why wouldn’t any official of the US government be against crime including crime associated with illegal entry? The fact that he’s promising to uphold the law that he will be sworn in to upholding makes him the same as any previous president
• We already have border walls and completing the remaining gap makes sense… Globally it’s the most common and CHEAPEST means of deterring illegal border crossings. Anyone who says that it isn’t effective is lying. Areas of our border that have walls are the least likely area for border crossings… obviously. If a democrat doesn’t like the concept of a wall, shouldn’t they be identifying their manner in upholding border security, a function of federal government that the democrat candidate would also be swearing an oath to uphold.
• Trump had recommended putting a hold on Muslim Syrian refugees until they can be effectively vetted. Its common that democrats try to make this a racist thing… because they don’t have interest in debating it from a effective or non-effective stance. That’s not anti-Muslimism, its common sense. They are coming from a violent part of the world, they are not entering the US through the traditional legal immigration path, and the speed that Obama was planning to import unvetted refugees in the country was ridiculous. Germany is suffering severely from Angel Markel’s decision to let hundreds of thousands of unvetted Syrians into her country… and now Germany has a huge crime and unrest because of the Syrians not integrating into society, but following their previous culture in Syria…
So our friendly barber in the quotes above will give the new president elect a chance even if all of his democrat manufactured fears are still on his mind. What is ugly is that reporters don’t challenge the incorrect basis of these fears, but instead show empathy towards them — feeding into fears that are pretty ridiculous.
If you are an illegal alien, or a child of an illegal that still is at large, shouldn’t you be always be fearful that the government will apprehend you for your crime and deport you? It is a crime, it does have impact, and unless the law changes, it should be upheld. That’s not an executive branch decision.. that’s the judicial and the law.
